Saw this unique looking bike today

Post by 01YZF6 on Sat Jan 22, 2011 9:14 pm

caught up to a guy on a cruiser I have yet to see today at a red light.
asked him what it was and he said a HYOSUNG....
it was black an silver

I have seen their sportbikes in dealerships but never a cruiser.

Hyosung gv650...here are some random images from the net....

lines reminiscent of a V-Rod

I hang out at another forum that caters to all sorts of alternative rides. A great many have those, they have quite the following and loyalties.

Hyosung is a decent knock off brand. They seem to hold better that the other chinese models, but still not HD or big 4 japanese quality (IMO)

For many years the motor in the Suzuki SV650 was a Hyosung motor bought straight from the Korean bike maker. Much like BMW does with Rotax. I owned a BMW 650 Funduro that had a Rotax motor......the way of a global economy I guess.
They make a "naked" and full fairing style sport version in 650 and 250 versions.
Popular in Europe and other areas.

Thats been rumored for years, But never confirmed to my knowledge and I really dont think that was actually the case. I had a 05 SV 650 and it was much better assembled, fit and finish that the hyosung.

Not arguing, but I think it was earlier versions of the SV when Suzuki first introduced the model that had the Hyosung motor...only the motor. All other fit and finish was pure Suzuki. My BMW had all BMW frame, wheels, electrics, seat etc etc just the motor was a Rotax. Just as a Cagiva started using Ducati motors in the 80's and Harley used Aermacchi bikes with AMF Harley Sprint badges. As I said its a global economy. Very Happy
Hyosung has built engines or parts as a subcontractor for both Suzuki and Kawasaki, just in different markets Like South Africa and Europe/Asia.
