CB350 elect ign DIY

Post by Guest on Fri Aug 19, 2011 11:42 am

Anyone found any diy info on converting the cb350 to EI by using cb750 picups and the other stuff? I been thinking about getting some cheap Hall Effect ICs' from ebay and making my own but successful plans are always better. Bound to be some later 2 cylndrs for doner electronics. And....please don't say Dyna$$$ ! Laughing want to stay within 2 figures

I remember buying points for my cb350 years ago and being pissed they cost more than I paid for the bike. Would think theres gotta be a way.

There is a transistor switching unit for $65 that works off the points but still uses the mechanical spark advance. All it does is stop the points' back spark. The crappy advancer springs are next to impossible to find nos and used assemblies go for $30. Buy a used one and you will still have the original problem. Can't go CDI because the stock alternator is to low on output amps to run it.

Brother do you have a CB350 twin or CB350F inline four cylinder engine? The Pamco ignitions are now available for both and cost $109. Here is a link to the twin ignition - http://www.cb450ignition.com/Index350.htm and here is the link for the inline four cylinder - http://www.cb750ignition.com/

The factory advancer is used with this system but it does not use the points, it is also very simple to install and can be used with your stock coils as well.

We just got one of these ignitions in to test on a race engine that I just completed building.

Thanks joeyputt that is exactly what I was trying to make. The price is well worth it on this one. The diy kind can take a long time to get right.

You are welcome Brother, I have not tested one yet but we did just get one from them and I am installing it now. From everything that I have read from other people that have used them they seem to be very reliable and I really like that it can be used with stock coils which saves a lot of money!
