Old Triumph guy here......had a few of the old Bonevilles way back in the 70's.....I did stop by the BMW/Triumph dealer off Beach street in Daytona during bike week.....that new Triumph triple is something to drool all over.....2.4 liter engine!!!???? What a ride that has to be.

Anyone remember the old adage: Lucas Electrics...God of Darkness!!

And the old amal carbs...that always seemed to leak at the worst times.

I have a deposit on a 2011 Tiger 800XC. I should get it in April, but I'm going to a demo ride this Saturday at 11am just to make sure.

I can attest to the new Triumphs being WAAAAAAAAY more reliable than the old Lucas/Amal versions.

My Tiger has 20,000 miles---zero issues--- valves just checked totally within spec
My Speed Triple had 36,000 miles on it when I sold it had zero issues
My Sprint had 89,000 miles on it, and the when I replaced the sprag clutch I checked the valve clearance---within spec-- and went through the whole engine, I was AMAZED at how CLEAN the internals where, and hardly any metal shavings or issues in the oil pan.... since I sold it the new owner has racked up 10,000 + more miles on it.

From what I understand the new Triumph factory is one of the most technologically advanced motorcycle Mfct. facilities on the planet.

DIRTFREAK where is the Demo Ride at is it close to Mobile? I would sure like to get in on that!!!!

I fully believe the new ones are much better.....I could start in on all the issues my 1971 Tiger and 1976 Bonneville had...but not sure there are enuff pages here for me to list them all. They were always a cool bike though and am very glad to see they retained most of the old styling. I really like that new triple!

So many bikes out there.....so little time and money!

Man wish I could make it. Been dying to try one of those 800's
LOVE my 955i Tiger, but she is a bit heavy for real off road roosting. It will get to alot of places a street bike never will.....but it ain't easy going by any stretch.
Owned a BMW F650 for a time, much lighter and agile ---assuming thats what the 800 Tiger will be like-- but as it was only a 650 thumper (it was the older "Funduro model" it was not really worth a hoot on the street.
